2006-S US San Francisco Old Mint Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar The United States Mint certifies that this coin is a genuine 2006 San Francisco Old Mint Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar, struck in accordance with legislation passed by Congress and signed by the President on June 15, 2006, as Public Law 109-230. This coin was produced by the Department of the Treasury, United States Mint to commemorate the survival of the San Francisco Old Mint building in the great earthquake and fire of 1906 and its role in the rebuilding of San Francisco. Coin Designs The obverse (heads side) design of the 2006 San Francisco Old Mint Silver Dollar features an image of the San Francisco Old Mint building based on the obverse of the San Francisco Mint medal. The design, by Sherl J. Winter, features a three-quarter perspective and includes the original twin brick chimneys. The reverse (tails) design is a replica of the 1904 Liberty Head Silver Dollar Eagle Reverse, designed by George T. Morgan. All proof sets have been pre owned and may have slight blemishes.
