• 50 BAMBOO SEEDS FARGESIA FUNGOSA (Hardy Clumping)

Fargesia are very cold tolerant, shade loving bamboos from the mountainous region of western China. They can grow nearly anywhere in the USA, aside from Southern to South-East climate zones that are very hot or humid. They create beautiful evergreen hedges or "fountains" of delicate foliage. They will tolerate a fair amount of sun, but prefer some shade during the afternoon hours, in order to look their best. Fargesia range from 8 feet to 16 feet, depending on the type. All are clump forming and do not spread more than 4-6 inches per year. Can be grown in containers.

Originally imported from Sichuan, China into the US in the 1941 by David Bisset, from whom it was named after. • Giant bamboo (moso bamboo) / 50 seeds / winter hardy / grows 10 meters high in record time / Ideal as privacy & wind screen

50 seeds of the giant bamboo for self-sowing. The moso bamboo or phyllostachys pubescens moso is one of the largest of its kind and also extremely fast growing. In contrast to a tree, the giant bamboo grows much quicker, as the moso is actually just a gigantic grass. If you want to achieve a stunning effect in a short period of time in your garden or in a container on the balcony, then the moso bamboo is perfect for you. With heights of up to 4 - 12 meters - in China even 30 meters, it is unequalled. The culms have a diameter of 8 to 18 cm, are green with a white dusting. The shoot is almost black, the leaves are green and medium-sized (4 to 11 cm long) and grow very dense. One culm can carry up to 100,000 leaves. The bamboo is winter hardy down to - 15 degrees Celsius. The moso bamboo is also a significant crop. It is the probably most important edible part of the species and is cultivated for its fleshy, delicious sprouts. In addition it provides fibers for wood and furniture. Planting tips: Before sowing the seeds should soak in lukewarm water for a day. The bamboo is a light germinator. Press the seeds onto a moist growth substrate such as seed soil, potting soil or coco humus and cover them sparingly with substrate. The seeds prefer a high humidity (a propagator is ideal) a...

  • 50 Seeds Phyllostachys Edulis 'Jaquith' Moso Bamboo Plant

How to Propagate Bamboo Seeds Bamboo is a very fast-growing, tropical member of the grass family, which includes sugar cane and wheat. The most difficult part of propagating bamboo from seed is finding the seeds. Instructions 1 Rinse the bamboo seeds in tap water. 2 Pour 1/4 cup water into a bowl and mix in 3 tbsp. salt. Add the bamboo seeds to the solution and allow them to soak for five minutes. 3 Rinse the seeds and soak them in plain tap water for 15 minutes. 4 Pour a mixture of perlite and compost (in a 3 to 1 ratio) into a seeding tray to within 1/4 inch of the top. Water the mixture so that it is just damp, not wet. 5 Look for the swollen end of the seed and place this end into the soil. The top of the seed can remain exposed or cover lightly with soil. 6 Place the seeding tray into the plastic bag and seal with a twist tie or rubber band. 7 Place the bagged seeding tray in a shady location. Open the bag weekly to check the moisture in the soil and allow fresh air to circulate. If the soil appears to be drying out, use the misting bottle, set on a fine mist, and lightly spray the soil. 8 Allow the bag to remain on the tray for a week after germination, which should occur from three to 25 days after planting the seeds. 9 Repot the seedlings after one month into the same rat...
